Stamped Concrete

Stamped Concrete Design & Installation

stamped-concrete-patioStamped concrete is a highly versatile medium available in a variety of colors, patterns and textures that allow it to simulate a wide range of building materials including brick, slate, flagstone, tile, wood and more. It offers a durable, low maintenance and cost-effective design option for your outdoor space with a high-end appearance that can significantly increase the value of a home or business property.

Stamped concrete involves imprinting a textured pattern on the surface. Typically, concrete stamping is used on patios, pool decks and driveways. The solid, continuous surface afforded by stamped concrete prevents landscape overgrowth and unsightly weeds coming up through the design.

Stamped Concrete: Design & Installation Process

stamped-concrete-pool-deckA four-step process sets the concrete stamping technique apart from other  application procedures.

  1. An integral dye is added to the cement mix to create the base color, which is the primary color used for stamped concrete. Typically the base color matches the color of the natural material used on the building. Adding an integral liquid or powder dye guarantees the color is evenly colored all the way through and resists fading, flaking and scratching. Highlight colors, which create a more natural, weathered look, can also be added during this step.

  2. A release color is applied, creating a natural shadowing effect and coloring any joints between the stones.

  3. A textured pattern is stamped onto the surface.

  4. The newly applied pattern is cleaned and sealed for durability and long-lasting protection. Two coats of sealer safe-guard the colored concrete from fading, flaking and scratching.

With such a versatile medium and simple application process, any number of patterned, textured designs can be applied to your patio, pool deck or driveway for a truly customized look.
